Het leek er even op dat Romelu Lukaku zijn kans zou krijgen in de tweede helft van Manchester United – PSG na het uitvallen van Lingard én Martial. Coach Solskjær koos echter voor Mata en Sánchez als vervangers, tot frustratie van de United-fans. Die merkten op dat Lukaku in deze wedstrijd van grote waarde kon zijn.
