Arthur Vermeeren werd vorig seizoen met veel toeters en bellen naar Atlético Madrid gehaald, maar echt doorbreken kon de jonge Rode Duivel nooit. Hij zal daarom zijn geluk gaan beproeven in Duitsland waar RB Leipzig hem voor één jaar zal huren met aankoopoptie. De fans van Atlético zijn alvast niet tevreden met deze keuze. Zij hadden Vermeeren liever nog wat langer in hun shirt zien spelen. Zij verwijzen onder meer naar Diego Simeone als schuldige.
